CARE's Mission

CARE (Center for Advocacy, Resources & Empowerment) serves the UC Santa Cruz community by providing free and confidential support to those impacted by sexual assault, intimate partner/domestic violence, stalking, or sexual harassment. We offer prevention education training and work collaboratively with campus communities to create a culture of respect and empowerment.

CARE advocates provide nonjudgmental support and resources for survivors of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking, and their significant others.

Ways to make an appointment:

  • Fill out an appointment request form.
  • Email the CARE office at care@ucsc.edu (Please don't include personal health information in emails.)
  • Call CARE at (831) 502-2273
    • If after hours, leave a brief message with your name and a safe number to call where we can identify as CARE.
For same-day support, please call our office at (831) 502-2273 to talk to a confidential advocate about your needs. Same-day appointments are available based on capacity.

For support outside of our office hours, please call Monarch Services 24/7 crisis line: 1-888-900-4232

Is your community or organization interested in learning more about CARE, or topics relating to sexual violence and dating/domestic violence?

FAQ's 

Does CARE have drop-in appointments available?

Same day appointments are based on limited capacity. Please call CARE at 831-502-2273 to talk with one of our staff. You can also request an appointment through our appointment request form.

If you need immediate assistance due to safety concerns, please call 911. If you need assistance outside of CARE hours, you can call Monarch Services (a local organization with 24/7 bilingual crisis support) at 1-888-900-4232.

What does it mean that CARE is confidential?

Confidentiality means CARE Advocates will not share any information with Title IX, the police, parents, or anyone else without explicit permission. The only exceptions are instances of child abuse, elder or dependant abuse and imminent harm to self or others. This would be a discussion to express why the report must be made in those specific instances.
